SEA Member Committees
SEA engages members in advancing the field of social enterprise by
convening member committees to lead particular projects.
SEA Board of Directors
SEA is now seeking candidates to serve on its Board of Directors. This
is the opportunity for SEA members in good standing to make a lasting
difference in advancing the field by serving on the strategic and
policy-making body of SEA.
Board members are elected for 3-year terms. The board seeks gender, racial and geographic diversity, and leading practitioners from established enterprises are strongly encouraged to apply. This year in particular the Board endeavors to expand the expertise and perspectives represented on the board by seeking candidates who bring advocacy experience, who represent a for-profit social enterprise, or who have access to resources and connections for helping to build the Social Enterprise Alliance toward advancing its mission. Please be sure to mention any of these qualifications when submitting your application. Nominations for positions on the SEA Board of Directors will be accepted now through March 17, 2010. The slate of candidates will be presented to the membership for online election from March 26 through April 9. You'll be able to meet your newly elected board members at the annual member meeting of the Social Enterprise Alliance April 30, 2010, at the Hyatt Embarcadero hotel in San Francisco during the 11th Social Enterprise Summit/3rd Social Enterprise World Forum.
Leadership Award Selection Committee
This committee, which includes up to 7 SEA members of diverse
perspectives from the field, is convened prior to each Social
Enterprise Summit to review the
nominations for our Leadership Awards. The Awards highlight exemplary
practice in vision, innovation, courage, and effectiveness in leading
and
building a social enterprise. The winners are honored during the Social
Enterprise Summit.
Public Policy Committee
This committee identifies policy issues that affect the environment for
social enterprise, develops strategies to improve access to resources
currently available, and promotes new policy initiatives that have the
potential of enhancing the field.
Summit Host Committee
The Host Committee meets during the fall to identify local social
enterprise tours that will be offered during the Summit. This committee
also helps to identify Summit sponsors and to promote the Summit
locally.
Summit Program Committee
The Program Committee meets annually at the end of summer to review the
priorities set by the Steering Committee and to design the Call for
Sessions. This committee conducts the arduous process of reviewing all
the session proposals and identifying those that will be featured in
the Summit Program.
Summit Steering Committee
The Steering Committee meets annually in the spring to debrief on the
recent past Summit and to set goals and priorities for the next Summit.
This committee of appointed SEA members also develops the annual Summit
theme. |
What people are saying about SEA
Through SEA I’ve met so
many people who have been sounding
boards for issues that are unique to social enterprise, such as
alternative legal structures.
- Dave Wunderlin We needed to network with others who understand both the
mission and the business of running a social enterprise. We joined SEA
to meet peers who offer a shoulder to lean on and ideas to try. |
